My discovery of the week: La Souteronne

La Souteronne 2014 of Hervé Souhaut is definitely my type of red : I could tell from the moment the sommelier poured it into my glass – the light purple with a garnet twist colour straight away sent a signal to my brain which goes : this fabulous red wine does good to my palate and my entire body . What a discover ! Thank you @woodstockholm for making it happen !

I didn’t know about this wine nor this wine producer , but I am totally seduced  by everything this wine has to offer :

On the nose we can smell strawberry, black cherry, plum, fig, and smoky herbs.

On the palate , black fruit dominates with a touch of minerality.

This Gamay with its Northern Rhone influence evokes something very familiar and Beaujolais-like .

And here is what I learn about this wine and Hervé Souhaut methodology :

“Age of Vines: 60 to 80 years old non-clone vines.

Yields: 25 hl/ha 3,000 bottles annually.

Pruning Method: Gobelet

Soil: Schist.

Vinification Method: Grapes are hand-harvested & undergo a very long maceration at a low temperature—without de-stemming the fruit. The wine is fermented in wooden tanks & aged on fine lees in secondhand oak casks for eight months. The wine is bottled without filtration. Total SO2 is only 25 mg/L.”

Can’t wait to try more wines from Hervè Souhaut !

Back in Stockholm and here is where you should go in Sodermalm for good food, worthy natural wines and good soul!

Woodstockholm, the highlight of this post – everything about this relatively small place is perfect, the monty theme ( I reckon we are in the middle of the Aphrodisiac menu of May..you lucky foodies 😉 ) – people would say the food is rustic ..and I would say the food is typical the closest food you can get in restaurant that feels and tastes like homemade food with a touch of sophistication that you can’t achieve at home. Voila.

And as if the changing themes and the wonderful and authentic flavours were not enough..here you can drink proper natural wines…and of course the service is top-notch !

So for me, it is a win and I have tried it twice- spot-on.

@woodstockholmAnd I will be back in June with more details and photossssss, Yes !

The other restaurant to highlight for today is Delikatessen Bistro bar ..a french bistro which is not your typical , classic boring French brasserie but just a French restaurant which serves tasty,well-balanced food , with a twist. Both starters and mains were outstanding, fish, meat and desert succulent- Bravo for this yummy food in an airy and bright setting .

I also heard that they are also now distributing natural wines – mais que demande le people ? Keep it up guys and see you soon in June !

The bar of the restaurant, Bar Hommage, is worth a visit, talented barmaid on the mix – really good cocktail list and a very good pisco sour ! @barhommage
